Ramayan Katha: Why did Mother Sita pick up a blade of grass as soon as Ravana came, what promise did she give to King Dasharatha?

Ramayana story

Ramayan Story: Ravana, the king of Lanka, had abducted Mother Sita and took her away. He kept them in Ashok Vatika, but he could never muster the courage to touch Mother Janaki. Whenever Ravana went to Mother Sita in Ashok Vatika, she would pick up a blade of grass. Let us know the secret of this straw. After all, why did Mother Sita pick up a blade of grass as soon as Ravana came and why Ravana could never dare to touch Mother Sita?

According to Ramayana, Mother Sita picking up the straw as soon as Ravana came near her is related to a promise given to King Dasharatha. Once food was being served to everyone in the Raj Bhavan of Ayodhya. At that time Mother Kaushalya was lovingly feeding everyone. After this, Mother Sita started serving kheer to everyone. When everyone was about to start eating, a very strong wind blew. Everyone handled their eating leaves.

Sita ji looked at the straw without blinking.

At that time Mother Sita was watching this scene very carefully. Mother Sita saw that a small blade of grass had fallen into King Dasharatha’s kheer. Her situation was full of dilemma, because she could not even put her hand in the kheer and take out the straw. In such a situation, Mother Sita started staring at that straw from a distance. Sita ji kept looking at that straw without blinking.

As soon as Mother Sita saw that straw, it burnt to ashes. After this Mother Sita averted her eyes. He felt that no one saw him doing this, but King Dashrath had seen all this. Although at that time he did not say anything to Mother Sita. After having dinner, when King Dasharatha went back to his room, he called Mother Sita there.

King Dashrath asked for this promise from Mother Sita

After this, King Dashrath told Mother Sita that he had seen her miracle. He said that Mother Sita is the real mother of the world. Saying this, Dasharatha ji asked for a promise from Mother Sita. He asked Mother Sita to promise him that she would never look at her enemy the way she looked at that blade of grass today.

Mother Sita gave this promise to King Dasharatha and that is why he never looked at Ravana in that light. If she had done this, Ravana would also have been reduced to ashes like a blade of grass.
