Anshula Kapoor’s embellished pre-wedding lehenga took 1600 hours to make

Netizens were awaiting details of Anshula Kapoor’s nuptials since pictures of her engagement dropped in October last year. They were keeping their eyes peeled for signs of festivities—and, of course, fashion—that would be a part of the line up leading up to the big day. Pictures from Anshula Kapoor and beau Rohan Thakkar’s pre-wedding prayer ritual just dropped, and the bride-to-be’s look is only indicative of the grandeur that will follow in the coming days. She was gilded in a custom creation from  , a label by designer Ridhi Bansal and celebrity stylist Mohit Rai, who also styled the look.

The extravagant look featured a skirt crafted with  silk tissue brocade, embellished with ghungroos and polki, and hand-embroidered with aari (mirror) and zardozi embroidery. The high-neck blouse—a statement design which will set bridal trends this season—showcased the skirt’s matching polki embellishments, giving the blouse a bejewelled appearance. Antique, gold-finished threads were used to craft exquisite motifs using dabka, badla and gota work. Pearls and ghungroos were used to beautify the blouse further. Kapoor also wore two dupattas—a metallic hand-embroidered tissue dupatta and a traditional  creation with densely-packed floral motifs in jewel colours, a mainstay in every Punjabi bride’s trousseau. Artisans in Itrh’s atelier took 1,600 hours to put together the look, meticulously going over every detail, and bringing the bride-to-be’s gilded vision to life.
