Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that the tribal community is the soul of our culture. In a program organized in Bhopal on the 150th birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda, he said that the government is preserving the memories of public leaders.
Bhopal. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that Madhya Pradesh is the state with the largest tribal population in the country. About 21 percent people here are from the tribal community. This class lives in harmony with nature and protects it. The government is fully dedicated to the development of education, society, economy and culture of these communities.
NGO meet inaugurated on the 150th birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was addressing the All India NGO Meet organized at Kushabhau Thackeray International Convention Center on Wednesday. The program was jointly organized by the Central and State Governments on the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda and Tribal Pride Year. He started the program by lighting the lamp and said that the role of NGOs is important in the educational, social and economic development of the tribal society.
NGO and government should work together for tribal welfare
The Chief Minister said that tribal welfare is the top priority of the government. The state government is working closely with NGOs so that development schemes reach the grassroots level. He told that a special cabinet meeting was organized in Jabalpur on the 300th birth anniversary of Rani Durgavati. Apart from this, steps like establishment of Tantya Mama Bhil University in Khargone and making the works of Raja Shankar Shah-Kunwar Raghunath Shah available to the public have been taken.
Madhya Pradesh – Land flourishing with tribes
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Madhya Pradesh is a land full of flowers and flourishing tribal culture. Tribal pride has got a new identity under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Today, active participation of the tribal society is visible from Rashtrapati Bhavan to Panchayat Bhavan. He said that programs like PM Jan-Mana and Dharti Aaba Abhiyan are symbols of tribal empowerment.
Government is preserving the memories of public leaders
Dr. Yadav said that the government is cherishing the memories of all the public leaders including Lord Birsa Munda. His biography has been included in the curriculum of schools and colleges so that the new generation can get acquainted with their real heroes. He told that Raja Shankar Shah and Kunwar Raghunath Shah Museum has been built in Jabalpur. Habibganj station of Bhopal was named as Rani Kamalapati station and Patalpani station was named as Jannayak Tantya Bhil station. The government is continuously making efforts to spread the heroic stories of public leaders and heroines to the common people.
NGO is the link of change in society
The Chief Minister said that NGOs are an important link in bringing positive change in the society. They work as a bridge between the government and the public. NGOs are playing active role in areas like education, health, livelihood and forest rights act. Education, health, livelihood, Forest Rights Act and Tribal Governance were discussed in today’s national conference, the results of which will be helpful in formulating future plans.
Central Government Initiatives and Achievements
Anshu Singh, Deputy Director General of the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs, said that on the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda, this conference is dedicated to tribal pride. He said that in 2011, the difference in literacy rate between general and tribal community was 14 percent, which has now reduced to 6 percent. Infant mortality has also declined significantly, although more efforts are still needed in the areas of education, health and livelihoods.
