Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium, which has been the home ground of IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), has been embroiled in a major controversy for the last few months. In fact, after IPL 2025, during the victory parade of RCB in June, the stampede near the stadium had taken away many lives. After this incident, there was a need for large-scale improvements in the stadium. Since then the stadium has not received the green signal to host any match. At the same time, now preparations for IPL 2026 have started. In such a situation, a big update has come out on RCB’s home ground.
Will RCB’s home ground change?
According to media reports, M Chinnaswamy Stadium may be excluded from hosting IPL 2026. It was also ignored during the recent Women’s ODI World Cup. The incident like stampede has raised questions on the security standards, which is a shock for the fans of RCB, because Chinnaswamy Stadium has not only been the stronghold of the team but is also considered a heaven for the batsmen. But in IPL 2026, RCB can be seen playing on the new home ground.
Matches can be played in this stadium
According to reports, Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) has made an attractive offer to RCB. There is talk of organizing RCB’s home matches at MCA Stadium in Pune. The stadium has a capacity of over 42,000 fans and has previously been home to franchises such as Pune Warriors India – Rising Pune Supergiant. However, the final decision on RCB’s home ground can be taken after the auction, which is to be held in December.
MCA secretary Kamlesh Pisal told TOI, “Talks are on to host RCB matches in Pune, but it has not been finalized yet. They have a problem in Karnataka because there was a stampede there. So they are looking for a venue and we have offered them our stadium. Initial discussions have taken place and there are some technical things that are yet to be resolved. If everything goes well then maybe yes, Pune will host the matches.
