After a tragic bomb blast near Delhi’s Red Fort, airports across the country are on high alert. Travellers are facing stricter security measures. The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) issued guidelines for all travellers on Tuesday, 11 November 2025.
As per the updated guidelines, amid the second screening before boarding a flight, other random checks, all domestic and international passengers will have to arrive early for their flights.
Airports Step Up Security: What Travellers Should Know
Airports across the country have increased security checks and strengthened safety measures. If you’re flying soon, expect longer screening times and a more noticeable security presence.

1. Expect Tighter Checks on Arrival
Airport staff are keeping a closer eye on everything these days, from parking lots to entry gates. If you’re driving in, you’ll notice more police checks before you even get near the terminal. Staff and passengers alike are asked for ID more often. Random bag searches are more common, sometimes before you step inside.
2. Surveillance Everywhere
Security cameras are now running at full capacity. If you’re at the airport, your movement is likely being watched to help protect passengers and staff. Guards are posted at more spots, whether near check-in or out by the aircraft.
3. More Security Teams on Duty
You might notice a much higher number of security guards, including special police units working with regular airport teams. Quick-response groups are practicing emergency drills, and patrolling parties are visible at different times of day.
4. Flights Under a Closer Eye
Every flight, whether scheduled or not, is monitored carefully. The same goes for helicopters and drones. If your travel plans include any small or private aircraft, expect added scrutiny.
5. Baggage Scrutiny and Manifests
Security will check both passenger and cargo manifest information more closely. Catering and cargo services face full searches before anything gets loaded onto planes.
6. Don’t Be Surprised by Extra Steps
At many airports, 100% ladder point checks are now compulsory. This means every flight is double-checked before take-off. Even your bags could be searched again at unexpected moments.
7. Special Focus: Delhi Area
If you’re flying within or near Delhi, security teams are watching airfields and helipads even closer. State police and special forces are now working hand-in-hand with airport security to keep the area extra safe.
What You Can Do
Give yourself extra time when heading to the airport. Be ready to show ID more than once. Pack smart, keep your bags organised and be prepared for possible searches, even after passing through usual checks.
