What is “India-UK Vision 2035”?
This vision is a time-bound partnership plan (Strategic Roadmap) between India and Britain for the next 10 years. It includes five major pillars like economy, technology, defence, climate and education. Together the two countries will form an “Intellectual Partnership” that will be able to embrace new possibilities in the rapidly changing technological world. Under this scheme, research, innovation and education exchange programs will be promoted so that the youth of both the countries can together contribute to solving global problems.
India’s increasing role in G-7 meeting
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Jaishankar is attending the G-7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting from 11 to 13 November 2025 at the invitation of Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand. This year the G-7 conference is being organized in Niagara (Canada), which is known for its famous waterfalls. Apart from Canada, America, Britain, Japan, Germany, Italy and France, countries like India, Australia, Brazil, South Korea, Saudi Arabia and South Africa have been invited as “outreach partners” in the meeting. India’s participation shows that the country is no longer just a spectator but a leading voice for the “Global South”.
Has a new chapter in India-UK relations begun?
This meeting of Jaishankar and Yvette Cooper has taken place at a time when talks are going on between India and Britain on many important economic and trade issues. “India-UK Vision 2035” will further strengthen this relationship, especially in the areas of defense and innovation. The background of this journey is also important. The recent meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney had brought new warmth in India-Canada relations. Now the same diplomatic rhythm is being extended to Britain.
