For the first time in Bihar elections, live tracking of all booths, 66.90% voting with GPS monitoring of EVMs.

Record 66.90% voting took place in Bihar elections 2025. For the first time, live webcasting of 100% booths and GPS tracking of EVMs was done. Peaceful voting took place in Naxalite areas after 20 years and ₹127 crore was seized.

Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 concluded with record-breaking turnout and unprecedented use of modern technology in the electoral process. Chief Electoral Officer Vinod Singh Gunjiyal announced that a total of 66.90 percent voting has been recorded in the state including both the phases, which is almost nine percent more than the last election. This time the Commission took several technology-based initiatives to ensure electoral transparency, which were mentioned by the Chief Electoral Officer in the press conference.

Live webcasting of 100% booths

Vinod Singh Gunjiyal said that this is the first time in the electoral history of India that 100 percent of the booths were live webcasted in an assembly election. This made it easier to directly monitor the activities taking place at all polling stations and take immediate action on any complaint. This helped in resolving more than 220 complaints received during the voting process at the earliest.

GPS tracking and monitoring of EVMs

GPS tracking was used to make the entire process of transporting EVMs to and from polling stations secure. Real-time location of each EVM was tracked, eliminating the possibility of any unauthorized activity. The Chief Electoral Officer confirmed that GPS tracking of all the EVMs delivered to the polling stations was done.

End of Naxalism: Voting after 20 years

One of the biggest successes of this election was peaceful voting in Naxal affected areas. ADG Head Quarter Kundan Krishnan said that elections were also held in such booths in districts like Jamui, Gaya and Rohtas, where voting had not taken place for the last two decades. He said, “It can be said that radical Naxalism has ended. Naxalites’ wives also voted. There was no violent incident anywhere at the booth.” Voting was conducted peacefully across the state and no major news of violence was reported from anywhere.

Goods worth Rs 127 crore seized

  • The Chief Electoral Officer said that with a record 66.90% voting, the Election Commission took strict action after the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct.
  • Seizure of goods: Goods (cash, liquor, drugs etc.) worth Rs 127 crore have been seized during this election.
  • Arrests: 690 people were arrested in the last 24 hours.

high turnout districts

Including both the phases, maximum voting took place in Katihar, Kishanganj and Purnia, where the voting percentage was more than 75 percent. This election will be remembered not only for the record voter participation but will also prove to be a milestone for the precise use of technology and the important steps taken towards the end of Naxalism.
