Norway striker Erling Haaland shared footage from his team’s training session as they prepared for their FIFA World Cup 2026 Group I match against Senegal.
Haaland posted clips from the practice on social media with the caption, “The mission continues,” highlighting Norway’s focused preparations for the key fixture.
In Norway’s opening match against Iraq, Haaland made history on his World Cup debut by becoming the first male player to score multiple goals for his country in one tournament match. He netted twice within the opening 43 minutes, according to ESPN Insights.
Haaland’s performance helped Norway secure a 4-1 victory, their first World Cup win in 28 years.
The game began with Iraq creating early chances, including a header over the bar by Aymen Hussein and a high shot from Ali Al Hamadi. Norway took the lead in the 29th minute when Haaland was well-positioned to finish a low cross from David Moller Wolfe.
Iraq equalised 10 minutes later with Hussein heading in Amir Al Ammari’s delivery. Norway regained the lead before half-time after Haaland pressed goalkeeper Jalal Hassan, forcing an error resulting in a goal.
Despite Iraq missing several chances to level before half-time, Norway maintained their advantage. The second half saw fewer clear opportunities, but Norway extended their lead in the 76th minute when Ostigard scored from a corner following Kristian Thorstvedt’s effort.
Haaland nearly completed a hat-trick late in the match, intercepting a poor back pass, but Hassan saved his close-range attempt. Haaland’s late header then led to an own goal by Hussein deep into stoppage time, sealing Norway’s victory.
