Heavy Rains To Continue Till August 16: IMD

Visakhapatnam: A low-pressure area is likely to form over northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal around August 13, while the upper air cyclonic circulation over north interior Karnataka and its neighbourhood between 4.5 km and 5.8 km above mean sea level persisted, the IMD Amaravati said in its daily report on Sunday.

Under its influence, heavy rain at isolated places is likely over north and south coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam. Strong winds with speeds of 40-50 kmph are also likely at isolated places in the same areas. The same weather conditions are expected to continue till August 16, the IMD said.

During the last 24 hours ending at 8:30 a.m., Tadpatri received the highest rainfall in the state at 7.2 cm, followed by Nallamada 6.5 cm, Kondapuram 6.2 cm, Puttur 5.8 cm, Settur 5.8 cm, Obuladevaracheruvu 5.2 cm, Balajipeta 6.4 cm, and Chintur 5.8 cm.
