Ahead of the film’s release, the director of the film, Imtiaz Ali, Vedang and Sharvari had an exclusive interaction with Zoom, where they opened up about today’s generation’s dating culture and how they handle their relationships with their partners. is an old-school romance set against the backdrop of the India-Pakistan partition. Imtiaz confessed that he doesn’t have enough ideas about the Gen-Z terms. On the other hand, Vedang Raina knew a different meaning about the term ‘benching’ in a relationship. After learning the correct meaning of it from Sharvari, the Jigra star called benching ‘moral cheating.’
Vedang Raina Explains The Meaning Of Benching
During a candid chat with us, was asked about the Gen-Z term ‘benching’. He didn’t know the exact meaning of it but gave a simple answer. He said, “It means to keep the options open.”
When asked Vedang Raina about it, he said that it is wrong when a person is in a relationship. He further stated that it will be okay if a person is in an arranged marriage. Sharvari got carried away by his statement and said that Vedang got it wrong.
Eventually, Sharvari explained to Vedang the real meaning of benching. After learning about it, the actor quickly said that it is cheating. Vedang Raina said, “Benching is moral cheating.”
Imtiaz Ali also joined the conversation and said that such things used to happen in the past as well. He cited an example of a growing population in the country. Sharvari and Vedang laughed at the director’s funny statement.
