Gold prices have gained on today as a weaker US dollar, lower crude oil rates and US-Iran peace talks boost safe-haven demand. In India, gold prices on MCX opened higher by 0.45% at Rs 1.6 lakh per 10 grams.

Globally gold rates rose over 1% on Monday, supported by a weaker dollar and easing oil prices, as investors weighed ⁠the prospects of a breakthrough in US-Iran peace negotiations.

Pranav Mer, Vice President, EBG-Commodity & Currency Research, JM Financial Services said gold is expected to remain largely sideways this week, while silver may continue to show strength as market attention stays focused on US-Iran peace discussions aimed at ending the conflict. Mer also said gold prices remained largely range-bound over the past few sessions and ended the week with slight losses due to the absence of strong directional triggers from either the economic front or developments related to the US-Iran conflict.

While analysts remain cautious in the near-term and bullish on the precious metal in the long-term, concerns on inflation and debt remain and the commodity market is awaiting a clear direction.
