Rukmini Vasanth AI Morphed Images Row: Police Arrest Three After Actor Registers Complaint

Rukmini Vasanth’s complaint has led Bengaluru Cyber Crime Police to arrest three individuals in connection with the circulation of AI-generated objectionable images and videos of the actor.

The actress who was part of Kantara Chapter 1 has alleged that fake and morphed content created using artificial intelligence was being shared on social media platforms with the permission in order to defame her. The actor said in a statement that the content violated her privacy, damaged her reputation, and caused mental harassment. Following her complaint, a case was registered under the Information Technology Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, getting an investigation done.

In her complaint, Rukmini Vasanth stated that morphed images and videos of her were being being shared on social media. Following the complaint, Bengaluru police registered Crime No. 36/2026 under relevant sections of the Information Technology Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). A special investigation team was formed to trace the individuals responsible for generating and distributing the content. During the probe, officials identified and arrested three accused persons and seized three mobile phones believed to have been used in the offence.

The accused have been identified as Ravikumar (24) from Bagalkot district, Chandrakanth (33), a resident of Bengaluru originally from Shivamogga district, and Ranjith (25) from Bengaluru. Police confirmed that all three have been produced before the court, and further investigation is ongoing.

In May, Rukmini Vasanth issued a public clarification after AI-generated fake images of her in a green bikini surfaced online earlier this week. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the actress warned that strict legal action would be taken against those continuing to share the images. She also called the circulation of such content a “serious violation of privacy” and urged users to stop spreading the fabricated visuals. In her statement, Rukmini and her team confirmed that they had come across the manipulated images online and clarified, “I want to state clearly that these images are entirely fake and fabricated.”

The actor will soon be seen in Geethu Mohandas’s action drama Toxic: Fairytale for Grown-Ups starring Yash. The film also stars Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, and Tara Sutaria. Rukmini will play Mellisa in the long-delayed Kannada and English bilingual. The actress is also part of the star cast of the eagerly awaited Dragon, which stars RRR stars Jr NTR in the lead.
