Cocktail 2 Worldwide Box Office: Shahid, Kriti, Rashmika’s Rom-Com Earns Over Rs 20 Crore

Cocktail, in 2012, was a bold, brave and entertaining mix of love, friendship and freedom. Now, 14 years later, Kriti Sanon, Rashmika Mandanna and Shahid Kapoor took the franchise forward with a spiritual sequel.

Directed by Homi Adajania, Cocktail 2 released in theatres on Friday. Despite mixed reviews, the film had a good day one at the box office. According to a trade portal, Cocktail 2 took a double-digit opening on Friday in India. The worldwide collection further cements its position as one of the top openers of the year.

As per Sacnilk’s report,  earned Rs 20.20 crore worldwide on Friday. The film’s India box office is reported to be Rs 13.50 crore, and the overseas market earned Rs 4 crore, taking its worldwide collection to Rs 20.20 crore. According to the report, Cocktail 2’s India gross collection is Rs 16.20 crore.

Cocktail 2 movie plot

Cocktail 2 follows the story of Kunal (Shahid) and Diya (Rashmika). They are childhood sweethearts dodging the question of marriage. Diya wants to marry, and he agrees. Before tying the knot, they visit Sicily for 10 days. During their visit, Diya meets her friend Ally (Kriti). Diya wants Ally to help her test Kunal’s loyalty. She purposely wants Ally to spend more time with her boyfriend. Gradually, Ally falls in love with Kunal. The film is about the trio’s friendship, relationship and more.

Shahid Kapoor reacts to A certificate for Cocktail 2

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has cleared the film with an ‘A’ rated certificate. In a recent viral video,  reacted to CBFC’s decision and said, “There’s nothing in this film that you would object to. I don’t understand why we received an A-rating. This is a story of three people that can be watched by everyone.”

Cocktail 2 cast fees and budget

According to reports, Shahid is said to be the highest-paid actor on board. His fee for Cocktail 2 is reportedly Rs 35 crore. On the other hand, Kriti and Rashmika, who play Ally and Diya in the film, are taking a paycheque of Rs 15 crore each. Reportedly, Cocktail 2’s budget is said to be Rs 150 crore.

Amid reports of Cocktail 2 being a lesbian love story, Kriti and Rashmika confirmed at an event in Bengaluru that rumours hold no truth and the film’s story doesn’t focus on their romance.
