Edgbaston Test: Jaiswal misses out on a deserved ton as India reach 182/3 at Tea

New Delhi: Yashasvi Jaiswal missed a golden chance to score back-to-back centuries, but his breezy knock ensured India ended the second session in a strong position on the opening day of the second Test against England at Edgbaston, Birmingham.

After a superb ton in the first innings of the series opener, Jaiswal was looking good for another score past the three-figure mark, but was stopped short of his sixth century by Ben Stokes. The English skipper struck with his golden arm as Jaiswal edged a hit-me ball and found a thick edge to Jamie Smith.

Jaiswal was dismissed for 87 off 107 balls but skipper Shubman Gill held firm at 42 off 109, joined by Rishabh Pant (14) at the crease as India reached 182 for 3 in 53 overs at Tea.
