Pickleball and philanthropy will come together later this month as the Centre for Family Services of Palm Beach County prepares to host “Paddles for a Purpose,” a charity tournament to raise funds for behavioural health services and family support programs.
Scheduled for June 26 at Replay in Boynton Beach, the event will bring together players, spectators and community partners for a day focused on competition and community impact.
The tournament will be hosted by the Palm Beach Royals, while Copperpoint Brewing Co. has joined as the exclusive beverage sponsor. Several local businesses, including Razorback Electric, Kipu Health, Jade Dental, Smash House Burgers, PuraVida Chiropractic and Wellness, and Applied Nutrition, are also supporting the initiative.
Organisers say every dollar raised through registrations, spectator tickets and event activities will directly benefit the Center for Family Services of Palm Beach County and its community programs.
“We developed ‘Paddles for a Purpose’ because pickleball is inherently about community, connection and physical activity, all of which are pillars of good mental health,” said Todd L’Herrou, CEO of the Center for Family Services of Palm Beach County Inc.
The event reflects a growing trend across the pickleball landscape, where tournaments are increasingly being used to support charitable causes while introducing new players to the sport.
Registration options include individual entries, doubles entries and league packages. Spectator passes will include food, tournament access, two adult beverage tickets and entry into various prize drawings throughout the day.
Founded in 1961, the Center for Family Services of Palm Beach County provides a range of support services for children, families and individuals across the region. The organisation has long focused on strengthening family connections through social service programmes and community outreach initiatives.
Organisers believe the tournament’s mission aligns naturally with pickleball’s reputation as one of the most social sports in the country.
“Pickleball is inherently about community, connection and physical activity, all of which are pillars of good mental health,” L’Herrou reiterated.
With support from the Palm Beach Royals and local businesses, organisers are hopeful the event can create both a memorable day on the court and meaningful support for families throughout Palm Beach County.
The tournament begins with registration at 9 a.m., followed by play starting at 10 a.m. at Replay in Boynton Beach.
