Karan Kundrra has hit back at social media users who criticised him for discussing his marriage proposal plans with his family before proposing to longtime girlfriend Tejasswi Prakash.
The actor recently found himself at the centre of an online debate after revealing that he had sought his family’s advice before taking the next step in his relationship on Desi Bling. Addressing the backlash, Karan made it clear that he sees nothing wrong with involving parents and siblings in important life decisions. The actor also defended traditional family values, arguing that a romantic relationship should never diminish the importance of one’s parents.
Karan Kundrra Questions Criticism Over Parents’ Involvement
Speaking to Siddharth Kannan in an interview, Karan addressed the trolling he received after opening up about discussing his proposal plans with his family. The actor appeared shocked that consulting loved ones before making a major life decision had become controversial. Defending his stance, Karan stressed that family members are often the first people one turns to for guidance and support.
“Agar aap parents se naahi puchoge, agar aap apne bhaiyon se nahi puchoge, to kisse puchoge? (If not parents and sibling, who will you even consult).” he asked. He added that involving family in significant milestones should not be viewed negatively. The actor did not hold back while responding to people who believed he should have made the decision independently. Expressing his frustration over the criticism, said that its a shame that some people think its okay not to involve parents in important decision.
Parents Will Always Have A Special Place In Karan’s Life
Karan stated that entering a relationship does not mean forgetting the people who have been part of one’s life from the beginning. “Kisi aur ke aane se aap apne parents ke position nahi bhul jaoge (you will not forget your parents if someone enters your life),” he said. The actor maintained that parents continue to hold an irreplaceable position in a person’s life and that consulting them should never be interpreted as a lack of independence.
Karan also took a humorous dig at social media users who disagreed with his approach. “Jo log mereko comment kar rahe hain na ki you should not talk to your parents, bhai kon si uniya mein paida hue ho? Hindustan mein paida hue ho ki kahi Kardashians ke ghar paida hue ho tumlog? (Who are these people commenting? Were they born in India or in the Kardashian family?)” he remarked.
Karan also clarified that Tejasswi Prakash herself had no issue with him discussing the proposal with his family. According to him, the criticism largely came from anonymous online users rather than anyone directly connected to the couple.
