The movements have intensified before the auction of IPL 2026 season. Retention is to be announced in November before the mini auction to be held in December and in such a situation, the franchises are now playing all their bets in the remaining days of the trading window. At present, the biggest name in this is that of Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson, whose rumors about leaving the franchise were flying for the last several months. But now it seems to be final and Sanju Samson is once again seen returning to Delhi Capitals. According to a report, the discussion regarding ‘player swap’ has intensified between Delhi and Rajasthan.
Samson will return to Delhi!
Since last season, news of Sanju Samson leaving Rajasthan Royals started coming and the Indian wicketkeeper-batsman had also hinted about it in an interview. But while continuous discussions were going on regarding franchises like Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders, now the talks seem to be moving forward with Delhi in this matter. A report in Times of India has claimed that the discussion regarding Samson trade is progressing strongly between Delhi and Rajasthan.
If this trade is completed then Samson will return to Delhi after 9 years. Earlier in the 2016 and 2017 seasons, Sanju Samson had entered the field for Delhi. This was the same season when Rajasthan Royals were banned for 2 years. Samson was a part of Rajasthan even before this and then from 2018 he once again returned to the Royals. Now Samson is seen changing the team again.
Rajasthan will get this explosive player
The special thing is that in exchange of Samson, Delhi is ready to hand over one of its explosive batsmen to Rajasthan. It has been told in the report that explosive middle order South African batsman Tristan Stubbs will be a part of this trade and Rajasthan will include him in its squad. Stubbs had scored 300 runs for Delhi last season at an average of 50 and strike rate of 150. Although this deal is yet to be finalized, it seems to be the strongest at the moment.
It has also been told in the report that along with Stubbs, Royals also wanted to include an uncapped player but this demand was rejected by Delhi. Not only this, before Delhi, Rajasthan had also discussed trading Samson with Chennai Super Kings. Rajasthan wanted to get star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja in exchange for Samson, but 5-time champion Chennai rejected this demand.
