Venkateswara Swamy Temple Stampede: There was chaos in Kashibugga area of Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh on Saturday when a huge crowd gathered at the Venkateshwara Swamy temple on the occasion of Kartik Ekadashi and a stampede broke out. 10 people died in this accident while many are injured. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed deep grief over this incident and has announced financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) and Rs 50 thousand each to the injured. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has also expressed grief over this incident.

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu expressed deep grief over the incident and said, ‘The death of innocent people is extremely sad. I express my condolences to the families of the deceased. This temple was built by a private individual. A large number of devotees arrived on Kartik Ekadashi, but the organizers did not inform the police or administration. He said that if the police had been informed, the crowd could have been controlled and this tragedy would not have happened.
Event organized in private temple, information was not given
The Chief Minister said that this Venkateswara temple was built by a private person. ‘Thousands of people came for darshan on the occasion of Kartik Ekadashi, but the organizers did not give any information to the administration. If informed earlier, the government would have deployed police and the crowd could have been controlled.
Order for investigation and assurance of strict action
The Chief Minister has ordered a high-level investigation into the accident. He said that strict action will be taken against whoever is responsible for this incident. CM said, ‘The aim of our government is that no one should die. But ignoring security in such private events is sad. A thorough investigation will be conducted and action will be taken against those responsible.
On-site relief operation
Immediately after the accident, the local administration and police team reached the spot. The injured were admitted to the nearest hospital. The Chief Minister directed the officials to provide the best treatment to the injured devotees. He also said that the public representatives themselves should monitor the relief work so that no needy person is left behind.
