Srikakulam Venkateshwara Temple Tragedy: There was an uproar in the Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple on the occasion of Ekadashi in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh on Saturday. Suddenly a stampede broke out during the puja and within no time the atmosphere turned into chaos. At least 12 devotees died in this tragic accident, while many people were injured. The video that came out of the temple has shocked people. In this, devotees were seen giving CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) to the fallen people. Some devotees were trying to lift the unconscious people and give them breathing.

“Everything happened in a few seconds…” Eyewitnesses described the horrific scene.

According to the devotees present at the spot, the stampede occurred at around 11:30 in the morning. Since it was Ekadashi, thousands of people had gathered in the temple for worship. Then there was a strong push from somewhere and people fell on each other.

It is clearly visible in the video that hundreds of women carrying puja baskets were trying to save themselves, while many devotees were trying to rescue people trapped in the crowd. Some women were seen rubbing the hands of people lying on the ground. This scene was very emotional and horrifying.

Devotees showed humanity – saved lives by giving CPR

When a stampede broke out at Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Kasibugga, many devotees present there immediately ran to help. Many videos showed that people were trying to save unconscious devotees by giving CPR. Some tried to provide water, while others took people to a safe place. This scene shows that humanity is still alive in times of crisis.

CM Chandrababu Naidu and PM Modi expressed grief

On this accident, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed deep sorrow. He wrote on Naidu’s son and minister Nara Lokesh also said, “This incident on this Ekadashi is very sad. The government is providing all possible help and better treatment to the injured.” Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed his condolences and said that he was “deeply saddened”. He has announced financial assistance of ₹2 lakh to the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 to the injured.

Painful scenes from the temple – eye-watering scene

In the video from the temple complex, many dead bodies were seen lying scattered on the stairs. Some women were seen crying while trying to identify their family members. At the same time, health workers were seen giving CPR to some unconscious devotees while taking them to the ambulance.
