If there is one Indian psychological thriller that consistently ranks among the best across listicles, it is the Tamil film Ratsasan. Directed by Ram Kumar and headlined by Vishnu Vishal, Ratsasan, which was released in 2018, continues to be celebrated by fans for its gripping plot, eerie suspense, and haunting subplots. Since its massive success, fans have been eagerly waiting to know whether a sequel will be made. Now, Vishnu Vishal has shared new details about it, sparking excitement among fans. Ratsasan 2 Update: Vishnu Vishal Opens Up About the Sequel

In a recent interview with Galatta, Vishnuu Vishal spoke about on the sequel opportunities he missed in his career and revealed his thoughts on taking up Gatta Kusthi 2. “While there have been opportunities to make a sequel for many of my films in my career, none of them materialised. For example, we had ideas for Indru Netru Naalai 2, Mundasupatti 2, Ratsasan 2, and even FIR 2. FIR 2 was the only sequel from my production banner, but due to some reasons, we couldn’t take it forward. When every sequel was getting missed, I became very upset,” he said.

He went on to say that if Gatta Kusthi 2 does well, it could give an opportunity for sequels like Ratsasan 2, Indru Netru Naalai 2, FIR 2, and Mundasupatti 2. Ratsasan went on to become a commercial success. It was remade in Telugu as Rakshasudu starring Bellamkonda Sreenivas and in Hindi as Cuttputlli starring Akshay Kumar in the lead.

The sequel will see the return of Vishnuu Vishal and Aishwarya Lekshmi as Veera and Keerthi. Kaali Venkat, who plays Sattam, along with Karunaas as Vishnuu Vishal’s Mama and Munishkanth as his Chitappa (uncle), will also reprise their roles. Lizie Antony, Gajaraj, and Sreeja Ravi return as family members Athai, Appa, and Amma, respectively. Ramya Krishnan and Yogi Babu have joined the cast as Raja Rajeshwari and Balbir Singh. Karunakaran, Mokksha, and child actor Zara Zyanna are also part of the star cast.

The film features a new technical team compared to its predecessor, with music by Sean Roldan, cinematography by Bhaskaran KM, editing by Barath Vikraman, and art direction by Jayachandran S. Vishnuu Vishal is also co-producing the film under his Vishnu Vishal Studioz banner, along with Ishari K Ganesh’s Vels Film International. The film is slated for theatrical release on July 3.
