2026 Kawasaki Ninja 500 Launch Price Rs 5.76 Lakh – Now E20 Compliant

India Kawasaki Motors has launched the 2026 Ninja 500 in the Indian market at a price of Rs 5.76 lakh (ex-showroom). With this update, the fully-faired sportbike receives E20 fuel compatibility along with a new colour scheme. The latest model is priced Rs 10,000 higher than before.

E20 Compliance And New Colour

The biggest update for 2026 is E20 fuel compatibility, allowing the Ninja 500 to run on petrol blended with up to 20 percent ethanol. Apart from this change, Kawasaki has also introduced its signature Lime Green colour scheme, bringing the motorcycle in line with the brand’s global supersport styling. No other visual or mechanical changes have been made. The overall design, bodywork and equipment list remain unchanged.

Engine And Performance

Powering the Ninja 500 is the same 451cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine that develops 45 hp at 10,000 rpm and 42.6 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox and benefits from a slip-and-assist clutch.

The motorcycle is underpinned by a steel trellis frame. Suspension duties are handled by conventional telescopic front forks and a rear monoshock. Unlike several rivals in the segment that offer upside-down forks, Kawasaki continues with a simpler conventional setup.

Features And Hardware

Equipment levels remain fairly basic compared to some competitors. The Ninja 500 gets an LCD instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity, dual-channel ABS and LED lighting. Dual-channel ABS is the only rider aid on offer. Braking hardware comprises a 310 mm front disc and a 220 mm rear disc. The motorcycle rides on 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Dunlop Sportmax tyres sized 110/70-R17 at the front and 150/60-R17 at the rear.

Sales Performance Impacted By E20 Transition

The Ninja 500’s sales performance over the past year has been relatively modest, with Kawasaki retailing a total of 109 units between June 2025 and May 2026. Sales peaked at 35 units in September 2025, but volumes gradually declined thereafter. Notably, the motorcycle recorded zero sales in March, April and May 2026. This was largely due to the model not being E20 compliant, resulting in a temporary halt in sales as Kawasaki worked on updating the motorcycle to meet the latest fuel norms.

With the launch of the E20-compliant 2026 Ninja 500, Kawasaki has effectively resumed sales of the model in India. The update should help the company clear regulatory hurdles, although the bike’s premium pricing as a CBU import is likely to continue limiting volumes in the segment.
