Xiaomi 17T vs Vivo V70 Elite: India price, camera, display, design, performance and more compared

We have already seen more flagship numbers of launches, price hikes in the flagship killer segment and some new models this year. But what was most interesting for me was how some brands are attempting to offer flagship-like experiences at relatively accessible price points.

Two of them are the Xiaomi 17T and Vivo V70 Elite.

Both phones target users who want more than just raw performance. Xiaomi has positioned the 17T as Leica-backed camera-focused smartphone with a premium display and large battery, while Vivo is offering its ZEISS-branded cameras, dependable battery life and Snapdragon performance package.

And now, after the Vivo V70 Elite price hike, the question comes up again- Which one should you choose in the similar price bracket? So, here is a closer look at how the Xiaomi 17T and Vivo V70 Elite compare across design, display, performance, cameras, battery life, software and overall value.

Xiaomi 17T vs Vivo V70 Elite: Design and build

Starting with Xiaomi, the 17T gets a compact 6.59-inch form factor with curved edges and flat panels. It gets a metallic camera island with Leica and a plastic frame. It offers Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection and an IP68 rating for enhanced durability. The device weighs 200 grams and has a thickness of 8.17 mm.

The Vivo V70 Elite, meanwhile, adopts a flat-edge design with a rectangular camera module housing ZEISS-branded optics and an Aura Ring LED. The device measures 7.59mm in thickness and weighs 194 grams. The V70 Elite also includes an aluminium frame, stereo speakers, and a 3D Ultrasonic Fingerprint Scanner 2.0. Like the Xiaomi, it feels premium in hand, although Vivo’s use of aluminium gives it a slightly more premium touch.

Xiaomi 17T vs Vivo V70 Elite: Display

Both phones offer 6.59-inch AMOLED displays with 1.5K resolution and 120Hz refresh rates, but there are notable differences. The Xiaomi 17T offers Dolby Vision, HDR10+, 12-bit colour depth, and carries a peak brightness claim of 3,500 nits. During testing, the display reached around 1,760 nits in High Brightness Mode and approximately 3,300 nits during HDR playback.

The Vivo V70 Elite counters with a 6.59-inch OLED display featuring a 1.5K resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 459ppi pixel density and supports HDR10+.

In everyday use, both panels deliver vibrant colours, deep blacks and excellent HDR playback. But if you love watching movies, you might prefer the Xiaomi 17T as it also offers Dolby Vision support. But Vivo’s brighter panel and higher density keep it in the competition.

Xiaomi 17T vs Vivo V70 Elite: Performance

Trust me, this is the most interesting aspect after cameras. The Xiaomi 17T comes with the MediaTek Dimensity 8500-Ultra, paired with 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and Xiaomi’s 3D IceLoop cooling solution.

In benchmark testing, the phone achieved:

AnTuTu: 2 million
Geekbench 6 Single-Core: 1,700
Geekbench 6 Multi-Core: 6,308
PCMark Work 3.0: 14,744
3DMark Wild Life Extreme: 3,375

The device maintained 88 percent of its peak performance in CPU throttling tests and delivered an average of 86 FPS in BGMI gameplay sessions.

The Vivo V70 Elite is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset built on a 4nm process. It is paired with LPDDR5X RAM, UFS 4.1 storage, and a 2,800mm² vapour chamber cooling system.

Its benchmark scores include:

AnTuTu: 1.7 million
Geekbench Single-Core: 1,913
Geekbench Multi-Core: 4,778

The Vivo V70 Elite managed to retain its 71 per cent of its peak performance in our CPU throttling tests.

While Xiaomi delivers higher overall benchmark scores and stronger sustained performance, Vivo’s Snapdragon platform also remains responsive for everyday usage, multitasking and casual gaming.

Xiaomi 17T vs Vivo V70 Elite: Camera comparison

Now comes the biggest aspect, the camera. Both devices are positioned as camera centric devices and offer an impressive setup.

The Xiaomi 17T features:

50MP Sony IMX906 primary camera with OIS
50MP Samsung ISOCELL JN1 telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom
12MP ultra-wide camera with 120-degree field of view
32MP front camera

Leica-focused features include Leica Authentic and Leica Vibrant colour profiles, Leica Portrait modes, Leica Live Moment and Xiaomi’s AISP computational photography engine.

When we tested the device, the primary camera offered detailed images with strong HDR performance and vibrant colours. Portrait photography is a major strength, while the telephoto lens performs well for portraits and moderate zoom shots. However, low-light performance can be inconsistent, with visible noise and occasional white balance shifts.

Vivo V70 Elite camera setup

The Vivo V70 Elite offers:

50MP primary camera with OIS
50MP Sony IMX882 telephoto camera with OIS
8MP ultra-wide camera with 120-degree field of view
50MP ZEISS selfie camera

All four cameras support 4K 60fps video recording.

The phone offers punchy images with cooler colour tones and strong contrast. Selfies generally appear more natural than several rivals, while low-light photography performs well with effective flare control and reduced noise.

The Vivo V70 Elite also supports multiple ZEISS-inspired shooting modes and filters that can come in handy in clicking portraits and landscapes for your social media.

Xiaomi 17T vs Vivo V70 Elite: Battery and charging

The Xiaomi 17T is backed by a 6,500mAh silicon-carbon battery with 16 percent. During testing, it achieved a PCMark Battery score of 15 hours and 24 minutes. Charging is handled by 67W wired charging, while 22.5W reverse wired charging is also supported.

The Vivo V70 Elite also packs a 6,500mAh battery but pairs it with faster 90W support. In testing, Vivo achieved a PCMark Battery Life score 25 hours 2 minutes, which clearly gets a bigger edge over the Xiaomi 17T.

Which one should you buy

If you ask me, both devices target different buyers. If you want a device with great photography capabilities, then Xiaomi 17T stands out with its Leica-backed camera system, strong HDR processing, premium display and excellent sustained performance.

The Vivo V70 Elite, on the other hand, offers a more balanced package with stronger battery life, faster charging, versatile ZEISS cameras, a premium aluminium design and dependable Snapdragon performance.

So, if you want a camera phone for content creation, the Xiaomi 17T can be a better fit. But if you want an all round device with a bigger battery, faster charger and solid camera, the Vivo V70 Elite should be your choice.
