The Victoris and the Urban Cruiser Hyryder share features, powertrains, and the platform as well, making them sister cars. However, the Victoris was launched last year with a slew of new features over the Grand Vitara and the Urban Cruiser Hyryder. Along with these features, Maruti offered best-in-class tech with the Victoris – an underbody CNG tank, which essentially eliminates the inconvenience of a CNG tank in the boot while still offering CNG-level mileage figures. But is that enough for the Victoris to have an upper hand in practicality when compared to the Urban Cruiser Hyryder?

Dimensions Maruti Victoris Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder
Length 4360 4365
Width 1795 1795
Height 1655 1645
Wheelbase 2600 2600
Boot Space 320-litre (CNG), 439-litre (petrol) 273-litre (CNG), 373-litre (petrol)

In terms of boot space, the Victoris does have a drastic upper hand, not only with the CNG variant, but also with the petrol variants, thanks to the longer and taller body. The underbody CNG not only improves the boot space, but having a CNG cylinder in the boot adds to the ergonomic difficulty of loading luggage into the boot. The taller body also allows for more headroom, improving passenger comfort. It is safe to say that the Victoris is a more practical option than its Toyota alternative, thanks to the underbody CNG and the slightly larger dimensions.

What Else?

In terms of features, the Victoris is the clear winner, considering it is a newer model. The Victoris gets a 10.1-inch touchscreen, a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, Level 2 ADAS, Dolby Atmos, and a few more features over the Toyota SUV. The powertrain options remain as they are: a 1.5-litre NA petrol engine (with the option of CNG) and a 1.5-litre petrol hybrid. The Urban Cruiser Hyryder carries a price tag ranging from Rs 13.27 lakh to Rs 24.51 lakh (on-road, Mumbai), while the Victoris carries a price tag ranging from Rs 12.49 lakh to Rs 23.62 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). So, the Victoris offers better value for money and practicality even though it is almost a lakh cheaper than the Hyryder! So, which of these SUVs would you choose?
