Maruti Brezza Facelift Spotted Testing!

From these spy shots, it seems more like a facelift than a generational change. The boxy stance and thick body cladding have been retained from the outgoing model. The test mule seems to have been uncovered halfway, revealing one key detail – newer alloy wheels. The older 6-spoke diamond-cut alloys have been replaced with the newer 4-spoke design. However, we expect both the 4-spoke and 6-spoke alloys to be offered as part of the facelift. The front and rear of the vehicle may not be visible from these images, but we expect subtle tweaks to the bumpers and lights to keep things fresh.
Bigger changes are expected on the inside, where the 1.5-litre NA petrol engine could finally be gone. Due to Maruti’s lack of diesel ambition, the Brezza was left stranded. The 1.5-litre NA petrol seemed the only viable option after the discontinuation of its 1.5-litre diesel engine. This meant that the Brezza was no longer eligible for the sub-4m tax bracket and was taxed similiar to bigger SUVs. This made the Brezza quite expensive. Its range starts at Rs 9.62 lakh (on-road, Mumbai), which is costlier than the Nexon, Sonet, and even the Skoda Kylaq. Fortunately, things are set to change soon; here’s how!
Maruti Brezza Facelift – All-New Engine

Maruti is expected to ditch the 1.5-litre NA petrol engine in the Brezza and replace it with a smaller 1.2-litre NA petrol engine, with some suggesting that an all-new 1.2-litre turbo-petrol is currently under development. If Maruti doesn’t want to go to the trouble of developing an all-new engine, it could simply use the Fronx’s 1.0-litre turbo-petrol. Moreover, test mules of the Brezza with an underbody CNG setup have also been spotted testing. Its rival, the Nexon, offers a dual-cylinder CNG setup to maximise boot space, and underbody CNG could be Maruti’s answer to it. Moreover, the feature list is expected to see key changes, including a larger infotainment screen, a panoramic sunroof, a powered driver’s seat, and ventilated front seats.
With the newer engine, the price could see a significant cut. Its price range of Rs 9.62 lakh to Rs 15.31 lakh (on-road, Mumbai) is expected to decrease by around Rs 50,000 to Rs 75,000. Furthermore, the frequency of its test mule sightings has increased in recent weeks, suggesting the launch is imminent. We could see it being launched by the end of this year.
