Karisma Kapoor Recalls Saroj Khan’s Playful Remark About Her Hit Songs with Raju Khan

 

Some of the most cherished memories in Bollywood are often built behind the scenes, and for Karisma Kapoor , many of those memories are closely tied to legendary choreographer Saroj Khan and her son, choreographer Raju Khan. During a heartfelt conversation on India’s Best Dancer Season 5 celebrating the spirit of India wala dance,  Karisma looked back at her long association with the mother-son duo. She shared a playful anecdote that still brings a smile to her face.

Reflecting on her journey with Raju Khan and expressing her happiness at sharing the stage with him, Karisma said, “Maine Raju ji ke sath bohot gaane kiye hai, and I am so happy and privileged that he has come for the first time, where I am judging this panel with him, and we are going to celebrate his mother, celebrate him, aur main ek joke and trivia bata du.”

She further recalled a light-hearted joke that Saroj Khan would often make about her successful collaborations with Raju Khan. Sharing the memory, Karisma said, “Ki Saroj ji is my guru aur unhone mujhe dance sikhaya aur jaise maine last episode mein kaha Tamma Tamma Loge gaane tak woh mujhe karati thi, par humara joke hota tha industry mein when she used to make me dance. I am the guru, par aap mere bete ke saath zyada superhit gaane karte ho. But she always used to love that, of course, she loved her son so much, she loved us so much, always so positive towards his creativity, and all of us used to go together.”

 The touching recollection offered a glimpse into the warmth, camaraderie, and mutual admiration that existed between some of Bollywood’s most celebrated artists, while also highlighting the lasting legacy of Saroj Khan and the deep bonds she fostered both on and off the dance floor.
