Redmi Turbo 5 with Dimensity 8500 Ultra, 7540 mAh battery launched in India: Check price and specs below

After the Xiaomi 17Tlaunch earlier this month, the company has shifted its focus on the Redmi lineup and launched the Redmi Turbo 5 in India today.

This is the first time Redmi has brought a “Turbo” series phone in India which has remind its performance focused lineup, exclusive to China, sitting above the Redmi Note series. The Redmi Turbo 5 is for users who want raw power, thermal management and gaming credentials over everything else. With the Turbo 5, Xiaomi now has a dedicated series in highly contested mid-to-premium segment. The Redmi Turbo 5 comes with a Dimensity 8500 Ultra chipset, a 7,540 mAh battery with 100W fast charging, a Dolby Vision display and IP ratings, making it one of the more comprehensively specced phones in its price bracket.

Redmi Turbo 5 specifications

The Redmi Turbo 5 features a 6.59-inch AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and a claimed peak brightness of 3,500 nits. It is a 12-bit panel certified for Dolby Vision producing 68.7 billion colours, a 480Hz touch sampling rate and 3,840Hz PWM dimming. The screen is also protected with Gorilla Glass 7i.

The Turbo 5 measures 8.1mm in thickness and has a metal chassis and glass back with LED ring lights around its two camera modules that can be customized with 8 colours. The phone is also IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K rated so it can survive dust, water and pressure.

The Redmi Turbo 5 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra which has been fabricated on a 4nm process with a 3.4GHz maximum clock speed. This is paired with upto 12GB of LPDDR5X and LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and UFS 3.1 storage options to choose from. It runs on HyperOS 3 and Xiaomi promises 4 years of OS and 6 years of security updates.

Since the Turbo 5 is positioned as a performance driven phone, it features a 5,300mm2 thermal cooling system and supports 120FPS gaming across 20+ titles. In addition, it has a stereo speaker setup which is Dolby Atmos certified and supports Bluetooth 6.0, WiFi 7 and the IR blaster.

The Turbo 5 features a dual camera system headlined by a 50MP main camera that uses a Sony IMX882 sensor and an 8MP ultra-wide camera. Upfront, you get a 20MP selfie camera. The cameras can record in 4K 60FPS with OIS and EIS.

The Redmi Turbo 5 is equipped with a 7,540 mAh battery that supports 100W fast charging out of the box. Xiaomi claims that the Turbo 5 takes 1 hours 10 minutes to fully charge the battery.

Redmi Turbo 5 price and availability

The Redmi Turbo 5 is priced starting at Rs 35,999 for the 8GB+256GB storage variant and Rs 38,999 for the 12GB+256GB variant. The phone will go on sale from June 19 on Amazon, Xiaomi India store and mainline retail stores.
