With several of India’s leading throwers absent from the competition, Sachin has a massive opportunity to establish himself as the country’s leading javelin contender heading into the international season.

Another major attraction will be the return of Murali Sreeshankar in the men’s long jump final. The World Championships finalist has looked sharp since making his comeback and will be aiming to comfortably clear the Commonwealth Games qualification standard of 8.05m.

The relay finals are also expected to produce high-quality competition after Indian quarter-milers delivered some of the best performances in the country’s history earlier this week.

The men’s 400m final witnessed a historic breakthrough when Vishal TK became the first Indian athlete ever to officially break the sub-45-second barrier after clocking a sensational national record of 44.98s.

Indian sprinting too entered a new era in Ranchi after Gurindervir Singh stormed to a stunning 10.09s national record in the men’s 100m final.

Meanwhile, Tejaswin Shankar also created history by crossing the 8000-point barrier in the decathlon with a national record tally of 8057 points.

With relay medals, CWG qualification standards and final-day bragging rights all at stake, Day 4 promises a fitting finish to one of the most memorable editions of the Federation Cup in recent years.
