Television actress Sanchita Ugale, known for her roles in popular serials such as ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ and ‘Wagle Ki Duniya’, was found dead on Sunday. She was 22.
The incident took place on June 14 at Sanchita’s home in Sai Santoshi Building, Aachole Village, Nalasopara East.
It’s a case of suspected suicide, according to those who found her body.
However, police have said the exact cause of Sanchita’s death has not yet been ascertained. All possible angles are being looked into by the investigators.
The tragic news has sent waves of grief across the television industry, with fans and fellow actors mourning the untimely loss of a young talent.
According to assistant police inspector Vinod Bagh of Achole police station, Sanchita had locked herself inside her bedroom before allegedly hanging herself from a ceiling fan between 7 pm and 7.30 pm.
Family members and neighbours rushed her to the Vasai-Virar Municipal Hospital, but doctors declared her dead on arrival.
After being alerted about the incident, police officials rushed to the spot and completed required legal procedures before sending the body for post-mortem.
Based on a complaint filed by Sanchita’s father, Machhindra Ugale, an Accidental Death Report (ADR) was registered by Achole Police under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) on June 15.
Sanchita gained popularity after playing Diya Tandon in Zee TV’s popular sitcom ‘Kumkum Bhagya’. She also appeared in ‘Wagle Ki Duniya’, where she essayed the role of Ruchita Jaitley.
Expanding her work beyond television, Sanchita featured in several film and OTT projects.
She played the younger version of Tara Rani in the historical drama ‘Chhaava’, headlined by Vicky Kaushal, and was also part of ‘Silence 2: The Night Owl Bar Shootout’, starring Manoj Bajpayee.
