The matter came to light when the student’s father, Mohammed Yusuf, came to seek admission for his daughter and the officials allegedly refused to grant admission.

Yusuf said that his daughter had not gone to school without informing him for a long time. When they tried to get re-admission for their daughter, the school administration demanded a controversial medical test. Yusuf alleged that the management of Jamia Ehsanul Banat Girls Madrasa tried to spoil his daughter’s character and hindered her studies. He said that despite paying an illegal fee of Rs 500, neither the transfer certificate was given nor the fee was refunded. The daughter often cries and says that if she does not get justice, she will commit suicide.

What action has the police taken so far?

SP City Kumar Ranvijay Singh said that a case has been registered under serious sections against Madrasa admission incharge Shahjahan, Principal Rahnuma and other staff. During investigation, the allegations were found to be true and Shahjahan was arrested and sent to jail. The remaining accused are still absconding and the police is searching for them. After the FIR is registered, other legal sections will also be added based on the investigation.

Madrasa’s claim: Allegations are baseless

Madrasa teacher Mohammed Salman strongly denied the allegations, calling them “baseless and malicious”. He said that such certificate was never demanded from any student. Salman also said that hundreds of girls study in the institute with respect and the allegations are false.
