Who is VIP leader Mukesh Sahni?
Born in 1981 in a fisherman family of Darbhanga, Mukesh Sahni adopted his nickname ‘Son of Mallah’. This was a tribute to their community of sailors and fishermen. At the age of 19, he left Bihar and came to Mumbai and started working as a salesman. He then tried his luck in Bollywood and started working as a set designer for films. He was also fond of acting, so after a lot of hard work he got a chance to work in some films. He worked in Shahrukh Khan’s film Devdas and Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan. He got recognition by working in these films. Then he also opened a company named Mukesh Cine World Private Limited in Mumbai. However, in 2013, inspired by great men like BR Ambedkar and former Bihar Chief Minister Karpoori Thakur, he returned to Bihar to fight for the backward classes (EBCs).

Mukesh Sahni formed Vikassheel Insaan Party
In 2018, Mukesh Sahni founded Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) to advocate for Nishad-Mallah rights. Both together constitute about 12% of the voters of Bihar. Despite winning only four seats in the 2020 assembly elections, which she later lost due to BJP switching sides, Sahni made a mark for herself. He was with the NDA during the 2020 assembly elections, but later left the party due to differences over BJP’s influence on MLAs.
