As per complete planning, the police of both the states surrounded the four criminals at around 2:20 am on the intervening night of 22nd and 23rd October. After this, the encounter between the police and the criminals lasted for about an hour. Panic spread in the area due to the flurry of bullets. In this fierce shootout, all four miscreants got injured by bullets. They were taken to Dr. BSA Hospital in Rohini for treatment, but after some time all four died.

The leader of the four criminals caught by Delhi Police was 25-year-old Ranjan Pathak. In whose name many cases of robbery, extortion and murder were registered. This accused was wanted by Bihar Police as well as Delhi Police. Its team included 25-year-old Bimlesh Mahato alias Bimlesh Sahni, 33-year-old Manish Pathak and 21-year-old Aman Thakur. Not only this, Ranjan, Bimlesh and Manish were all residents of Sitamarhi district of Bihar, while Aman Thakur was a resident of Karawal Nagar in Delhi.
