On this day, worship Chitragupta ji as per the rituals. Clean the house before puja. Then take bath and wear clean clothes. After this, spread a yellow cloth on a wooden platform and place the idol of Chitragupta. Keep your book, pen etc. in the puja. Before starting the puja, chant ‘Om Shri Ganeshaya Namah’. Meditate on Lord Chitragupta and offer him Roli, sandalwood, flowers, Akshat and Panchamrit. Light a ghee lamp and incense. Chant the mantra ‘Om Chitraguptay Namah’. Write ‘Shri Ganeshaya Namah’ and ‘Om Chitraguptay Namah’ on a blank paper. After this write your wishes on it. In the end ‘Masibhajan Sanyuktacharasi Tvam! Eating tamasic food or any kind of tamasic things is prohibited on this day, so do not do so. Do not wear dirty and impure clothes during puja. Do not let concentration break during worship. Do not worship in incomplete or wrong way. Do not quarrel with anyone on this day, control your anger. Do not disturb any living being.
