Know the interesting story of one such officer IPS Shakti Mohan Awasthi, who gave such an answer in the UPSC interview, which made even the panelists smile. His answer was related to the film 3 Idiots and is now going viral on social media.
Who is IPS Shakti Mohan Awasthi?
Shakti Mohan Awasthi was born on 7 June 1993 in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. His father’s name is Sheel Mohan Awasthi. After completing his initial studies from Lucknow, he did B.Tech in Civil Engineering from BIT Mesra, Jharkhand. After completing engineering, he decided to change the direction of his career and decided that he wanted to become an IPS officer.
Success achieved in three attempts
Shakti Mohan Awasthi started preparing for UPSC Civil Services Exam and cleared both Prelims and Mains in his first attempt, but missed the interview. He performed brilliantly in the second attempt and got selected in the Indian Revenue Service (IRS), but his dream was to become an IPS, so he did not give up. In the third attempt he finally achieved All India Rank 154 and turned his dream into reality.
When Shakti Mohan Awasthi was asked in an interview, ‘Have you seen 3 Idiots?’
An incident from Shakti Mohan’s interview has now become quite famous. The panelist asked him, your face looks like Bollywood actor Sharman Joshi, have you seen 3 Idiots? Shakti replied smilingly, yes, I have seen. Then the panel asked him – So tell me, how was the interview scene of Sharman Joshi in that film? Shaktimohan narrated the entire scene with acting and at the end uttered the same dialogue – “You keep your job, I keep my attitude!” The entire panel laughed, but the moment was also a little scary for Shakti. He thought that maybe now the selection would be difficult, but luck favored him, he got 190 marks in the interview and he got included in the final list.

Married to IAS Dr Pooja Awasthi
Dr Pooja Awasthi, wife of IPS Shakti Mohan Awasthi, is herself an IAS officer. He had secured All India Rank 42 in UPSC 2021. Interestingly, before this, Pooja Awasthi had also been selected as IPS in 2018, when she had got AIR 147. In this way, this couple is truly called UPSC Power Couple.

Presently IPS Shakti Mohan Awasthi is posted as DCP in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Earlier, he had served as ASP in Azamgarh and Moradabad.
