Assam businessman killed in murder plot planned by wife, Class 9 daughter

Dibrugarh: A shocking murder case from Assam’s Dibrugarh district has revealed a chilling family betrayal. Uttam Gogoi, a young entrepreneur from Lahang Gaon in Lahowal, was allegedly killed in a plot masterminded by his wife and teenage daughter, with the help of two hired killers. All four of the accused have been taken into custody by the police, who have also discovered troubling information about the crime.

The investigation started when Gogoi was discovered dead at his home under suspicious circumstances, according to Borboruah police. Investigators quickly found discrepancies that suggested a premeditated murder after the crime scene initially seemed to suggest a robbery.

The probe revealed that Gogoi’s wife, Boby Gogoi, and their daughter, who is in Class 9, conspired to kill him. They allegedly hired two contract killers—Dipjyoti Buragohain and Gouranga Patra—to carry out the plan. Police say the mother and daughter promised the killers several lakhs of rupees along with gold jewellery as payment for the crime.

Investigators discovered that the young daughter was allegedly involved with one of the murderers, Dipjyoti Buragohain, which further added to the case’s shocking nature. The murder conspiracy is thought to have been influenced by the personal connection.

The accused tried to deceive authorities by portraying the murder of Gogoi as a robbery gone wrong. But the cover-up was swiftly exposed by police investigation and evidence gathered from the scene. The graphic details of the case have come to light with the arrests of Boby Gogoi, her daughter, and the two hired killers.

Although promises of cash and jewellery seem to be a major motivator, police say they are still looking into the precise reasons why the family turned on Gogoi. The accused is still being questioned and authorities anticipate learning more about the motive and planning in the days ahead
