Once Sanatkumar said in a gathering full of sages that ‘Everyone should worship Goddess Lakshmi on Kartik Amavasya.’ When the sages asked the reason for this, they told, ‘Once in the prison of King Bali, the king of demons, Goddess Lakshmi was in bondage with all the gods and goddesses. Then on Kartik Amavasya, Lord Vishnu freed him from bondage. Therefore, by worshiping Goddess Lakshmi on this date, everyone attains happiness and prosperity.
