For Bihar elections 2025, Congress has released the first list of 48 candidates for the first two phases. This list includes 6 women and 4 Muslim candidates. This announcement has come amid suspense over seat sharing in the Grand Alliance.
Patna: Just hours before the end of the nomination deadline for the first phase of Bihar Assembly elections 2025, the Congress party released the first list of its candidates. The names of 48 candidates are included in this list, which came amid a long wait and the tussle over seat sharing within the Grand Alliance. Among these, 6 are women and 4 are Muslim candidates. According to sources, the party had already issued symbols to many of these candidates, while the official announcement was made late on Thursday night.
Congress has included the first and second phase seats in this list. The party has tried to strike a balance between Seemanchal, Magadh, Tirhut and Mithilanchal. Among the 48 candidates of the party, 5 women candidates, 4 Muslim candidates, more than 10 seats have been given to Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates. In the list released by Congress, names have been announced for 27 seats in the first phase and 21 seats in the second phase. Many senior and famous faces are included in this list. These include leaders like State President Rajesh Ram, senior leaders Shakeel Ahmed Khan, Ajit Sharma, Dr. Chandan Yadav, Amita Bhushan, and Vishnunath Ram.
Still suspense on seat distribution
The formal announcement of seat sharing in the grand alliance (RJD-Congress-Left parties) has not been made yet. However, all the parties are busy declaring candidates for their respective seats. Symbols have already been issued for many seats, and some candidates have also filed nominations.
