2 New Maruti Suzuki Hybrid SUVs Coming in 2026 – 5 & 7 Seater Models

Maruti Suzuki currently commands a 19% market share of the hybrid vehicle segment with offerings such as the Grand Vitara, Victoris and Invicto. Aiming to further strengthen its presence in this space, the Indo-Japanese carmaker is planning to expand its hybrid product lineup along with the introduction of an in-house developed strong hybrid powertrain. Internally codenamed HEV, the new Maruti hybrid technology will be more fuel efficient and cost-effective than Toyota’s series-parallel hybrid system.

The upcoming   will be the first model to feature the brand’s new hybrid powertrain, followed by several other mass-market Maruti Suzuki models. However, the carmaker will continue to use Toyota’s hybrid technology in its larger premium SUVs.

New Maruti 7-Seater SUV

In 2026, Maruti Suzuki will introduce two new hybrid offerings including the Grand Vitara facelift and a premium three-row SUV. Codenamed Y17, the is expected to be based on the Grand Vitara, featuring a longer wheelbase for an additional row of seats. Spy shots suggest that the SUV will share a close resemblance with the Grand Vitara, while borrowing bumper design and lighting signatures from the e Vitara.

Based on the Global C platform, the 7-seater Maruti Grand Vitara is expected to come with the Grand Vitara’s 104bhp, 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol and 116bhp, 1.5L petrol hybrid powertrain options. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will be on offer, while the AWD (all-wheel drive) system will also be carried over.

2026 Maruti Grand Vitara Facelift

The new 2026 Maruti Grand Vitara facelift is likely to receive subtle design changes and feature enhancements. However, the engine options are expected to remain unchanged. The facelifted model could feature a slightly revised grille, redesigned front and rear bumpers, updated LED lighting and newly-designed alloy wheels.

Inside, the new Maruti Grand Vitara 2026 facelift is expected to get a fully digital instrument cluster, a larger touchscreen infotainment system, and a Level-2 ADAS suite.
