PKL 2025: Bengal Warriors beat Telugu Titans in tiebreaker, Puneri Paltan confirmed place in top-2

In the 85th match of the 12th season of Pro Kabaddi League (PKL), Bengal Warriors defeated Telugu Titans 7-5 in a thrilling tiebreaker at Thyagaraja Indoor Stadium and put a break on their streak of five consecutive wins. After 40 minutes of play, both the teams were tied at 45-45, after which Bengal won in the tiebreaker. With this victory, Bengal Warriors registered their fifth win in 14 matches, but they are still at 11th place in the points table. At the same time, Titans had to face their sixth defeat in 14 matches, although they remain in third place.

Bengal Warriors won in tiebreaker

The beginning of the match was explosive. In the first four minutes, both the teams were tied at 5-5. However, later Bengal completed the first all-out and took a lead of 15-9. Continuing the strong game, Bengal achieved the second all out and made the score 26-15. By the end of the first half, Bengal was ahead by 11 points, in which Devank’s contribution was important. But in the second half the Titans tried to make a brilliant comeback. Titans made the score 32-26 with all out. Due to which Bengal was ahead 34-31 after 30 minutes.

But there were ups and downs in the last moments of the match. Bengal took the lead to five points by scoring two points, but Vijay’s multi-point raid reduced the gap to two points. Titans dismissed Devank for the fourth time to make the score 37-36 and put Bengal in a super tackle situation. Bengal took advantage of this and Manjeet completed the high-5 by super tackling Bharat. But the Titans counterattacked and all out Bengal and took a lead of 42-40. After this, Himanshu took two points and made the score 43-42, and then with Bharat’s dismissal, Bengal equalized. The match became tied due to Vijay’s dismissal in the last raid. But Bengal Warriors won in the tiebreaker.

Strong victory of Puneri Paltan

In the second match of the day, Puneri Paltan defeated Jaipur Pink Panthers by a huge margin of 57-33 and confirmed their place in the top-2 in the points table. This crushing defeat made Jaipur’s path to the playoffs more difficult. This was Paltan’s 13th win in 16 matches, while Jaipur had to face its eighth defeat in 14 matches. Puneri Paltan maintained its dominance like champions throughout the match. Every player on the team contributed, with raider Pankaj Mohite leading the way with 9 points. In defence, Gaurav Khatri performed brilliantly with seven points, while in the very first match, Vaibhav left his mark by completing a high-5. On the other hand, Ali Samadhi scored a brilliant Super-10 for Jaipur and Vinay supported him with 8 runs. However, the efforts of both of them could not save Jaipur from defeat.

Meanwhile, in the third match of the day, Gujarat Giants registered a spectacular victory by defeating Tamil Thalaivas 42-35. This win took the Giants to seventh place in the points table, with which they are now in the race for the playoffs. Himanshu Singh led the raiding with a Super-10, while the Giants’ defense secured the win by scoring points at several crucial junctures.
