Jhota’s Father Urges Punjab Youth: ‘Shun Drugs This Diwali’

Chandigarh [India]: In a poignant appeal, Bhim Singh, father of slain anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhota, called upon the youth of Punjab to pledge an end to drug abuse this Diwali.

Following the completion of Jhota’s post-mortem at PGIMER Chandigarh, Bhim Singh announced that the cremation would take place on Diwali day in Mansa between 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM.

He emphasized that scheduling the last rites on the festival was a deliberate choice, aiming to unite the youth to honor his son’s sacrifice and commit to a drug-free future for Punjab. Bhim Singh confirmed that the mortal remains would be transported to Mansa early Monday morning for the final ceremonies.

Speaking to reporters after the post-mortem, Bhim Singh said, “The post-mortem is complete. We will leave for Mansa with the body at 5:00 AM tomorrow. First, we will take him home, and then tomorrow, on Diwali itself, between 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM, Sardar Parvinder Singh Khalsa, alias ‘Jhota’, will be cremated.” He passionately urged, “Let us make history this Diwali; let us ensure that after Parvinder Singh’s cremation, not a single young person in Punjab uses drugs. We must renounce drugs and completely eradicate them from Punjab.”

Parvinder Singh Jhota, known for his activism against the drug menace, was tragically shot dead in Mansa. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has re-registered the murder case and initiated a thorough investigation into his killing.
