Vardhaan Puri Reminisces Diwali Memories with Grandfather Amrish Puri

Actor Vardhaan Puri, grandson of the legendary Amrish Puri, fondly recalled his childhood Diwali celebrations, filled with sweets and firecrackers, alongside his iconic grandfather.

Sharing cherished memories, Vardhaan stated, “My fondest childhood memories are those with my grandparents at home. I used to be obsessed with Kaju Katli, Moti Choor ke Laddu, Besan Laddu, Kheer, Rasmalai. I used to really enjoy sweets.” He admitted that while his sweet tooth persists, fitness goals now demand discipline. He also remembered bursting many crackers, a practice he has since abandoned due to environmental concerns, noting, “I have stopped bursting crackers as that’s the last thing the world needs at this point.”

One tradition Vardhaan consistently follows is buying new clothes for Diwali. “I like to wear them when I am in the pujas and when the family comes over. That always makes me feel good.” The family also upholds the tradition of purchasing silver or gold, considering it auspicious. Vardhaan enjoys shopping with his mother and selecting personalized gifts for loved ones.

For Vardhaan, Diwali transcends religious boundaries, embodying a spirit of unity. “I see that on Diwali, people of different faiths, different religions, different castes come together and have a great time together irrespective of their differences.” He emphasizes using the festival to reconcile differences, stating, “If I have any grudges or any kind of ill feelings towards anyone, I like to make a call to them or reach out to them in some way and create a happy, peaceful relationship between us.” He aspires to extend this practice of letting go of grudges beyond the festive season into everyday life.
