Dino Beganovic, driver for PREMA Racing, secured the first pole position in the FIA Formula 3 World Championship in 10 rounds, by setting the fastest time during qualifying in Bahrain.
The 20-year-old Swedish driver, who is also part of the Ferrari Academy, set a benchmark time of 1:46.431s after the session ended. The final moments of the half-hour qualifying session were crucial as the grid of 30 cars sought to complete their final flying laps. Luke Browning, a Williams Academy driver representing Hitech, achieved the second fastest time of 1:46.598s, 0.167s behind Beganovic’s pole position time. Gabriele Mini, Beganovic’s teammate at PREMA and an Alpine Academy driver, secured third place with a lap time of 1:46.601s, 0.170s behind. Sami Meguetounif, Santiago Ramos, and Leonardo Fornaroli from Trident respectively claimed the fourth, fifth, and sixth positions. Tim Tramnitz from MP Motorsport finished in seventh place, while Christian Mansell from ART Grand Prix came in eighth. The top ten positions were completed by Arvid Lindblad from Red Bull Junior representing PREMA, and Max Esterson from Jenzer. The Formula 3 racing action will begin on Friday with the Sprint race, starting at 13:15 local time (10:15 GMT). On Saturday, the feature race will take place at 12:00 local time (09:00 GMT).
