Jaiswal finds timely tons, scores second century in India A’s New Zealand warm-up

Yashasvi Jaiswal is warming up well for the Test series against New Zealand.

On Day 1 of the third and final game against New Zealand ‘A’ in Lincoln, the left-handed opener followed up his unbeaten 155 with a 102, as India ‘A’ reached 227/2 at Stumps.

For India to be successful in the two-Test series, it’s important for the top order to be amongst runs. Jaiswal’s century on Saturday should add to his confidence and strengthen his morale going into the series opener in Wellington, beginning on November 19.

Alongside Jaiswal, his opening partner for this game, Sai Sudharsan, got some crucial runs as well, as he remained unbeaten on 77. Together, Jaiswal and Sudharsan stitched 175 upfront. While Jaiswal’s was a brisk innings (off 138 balls), comprising 16 fours and a couple of sixes, Sudharsan got his runs off 205 balls and had hit 10 boundaries till Stumps.

However, Devdutt Padikkal, who too will be a significant member of India’s batting group in the Test series, perished for just 15. At the end of the day’s play, skipper Dhruv Jurel (12 batting) was at the crease alongside Sudharsan.
