Actor Sunny Deol has given his verdict on Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, and he wants every Indian to experience the film on the big screen. In a video shared on Instagram, the 69-year-old revealed that he watched the mythological epic and was thoroughly impressed by its scale, visual effects and performances. Comparing the film favourably with Hollywood productions, Sunny lauded its special effects too. His endorsement carries added significance, as the actor is part of the Ramayana universe himself, set to reprise his Hanuman in the sequel, after his tease in the post-credits of Part 1.
Sunny Deol calls Ramayana better than Hollywood
In the Instagram video posted on November 7, Sunny Deol spoke enthusiastically about his experience. The actor said, “I just came back after watching my Ramayana. And I loved it. I want every Indian to go and watch it too, because this film is no less than any Hollywood film. In fact, it is even better.”
He was particularly impressed by the film’s visual effects and the way they bring its mythological world to life. “Seeing the special effects, you won’t even realise you don’t belong to that era. It teleports you to that period,” he said, praising the immersive experience created by the film.
Sunny also applauded the performances, saying every actor had done a great job. Making his appeal to audiences, he added, “So I request – actually, not request, I say it with all my right because it is genuinely a great movie. So do go and watch it.” He signed off with a heartfelt “Jai Shri Ram” – a cheer which we also got to hear in Part 1.
Sunny Deol in Ramayana
Sunny plays Lord Hanuman in Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious two-part adaptation of the epic. The focus of the post-credits scene of Part 1 moves to Kishkindha, the kingdom of the Vanaras. According to the epic, Ravana carries Sita away and, while doing so, she drops the jewelry, which Sugriva finds. The ornaments become important clues in the search for her, and finally Sugriva gives them to Hanuman.
Ramayana features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana, with Ravie Dubey playing Lakshman. The project also brings together composer A.R. Rahman and Hollywood composer Hans Zimmer for its music. Mounted on a massive scale, the film seeks to present the ancient Indian epic through contemporary filmmaking technology and visual effects.
