Actress Saiyami Kher says spending quality time with her family, often through trips planned around the festival, has become one of her most cherished Diwali traditions. However, this year’s celebrations will coincide with her professional commitments, making it a “working Diwali”.
Speaking about her festive plans, Saiyami said she would be spending the festival on the sets of her upcoming project. She added that she enjoys working with her team and considers the people on set her second family.
“For me, the biggest tradition has become spending time with my family. We’ve almost made it a ritual to travel somewhere together every Diwali. Whether it’s a holiday or just spending quality time together, that’s something we really look forward to,” she said.
The actress acknowledged that work sometimes takes priority during festivals but said she tries to make the most of the time available.
“This year is a working Diwali for me, but I genuinely enjoy being on set. It’s my second family away from home. Hopefully, we’ll find a little time to celebrate together,” she said.
She added that her parents are happy whenever she is working and would therefore consider the professional engagement an auspicious start to the festival.
On the professional front, Saiyami is preparing for her international debut with an Indo-Russian drama directed by Maksim Kuznetsov. The film, produced by Kartina Entertainment, White Night Films and Wish Media, was shot across Russia and India.
Describing the experience as different from her previous projects, she said working with an entirely foreign crew and shooting in Russia had been memorable. She also expressed hope that the collaboration would lead to more international projects.
Saiyami was last seen in Priyadarshan’s neo-noir crime thriller featuring Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan, Boman Irani, Shriya Pilgaonkar and Mohanlal in a cameo.
