Naman Shaw Recalls Heartwarming Kolkata Diwali: ‘It Was About Family Togetherness’

Actor Naman Shaw, known for his roles in popular TV shows, recently shared nostalgic memories of his childhood Diwali celebrations in Kolkata.

Growing up in a large joint family with six cousins, Shaw fondly recalled the vibrant festivities that began with excited trips to the market.

“Diwali has always been my favourite festival,” Shaw reminisced, highlighting the thrill of buying firecrackers and the friendly competitions among children in their society. He spoke of whose crackers were loudest or lasted longest, simple joys that created lasting happiness. Visiting his family’s shop for puja and then hopping to cousins’ shops, soaking in the festive atmosphere, were also cherished traditions.

Shaw emphasized that beyond the crackers and new clothes, Diwali in Kolkata was fundamentally about family. “It was about being together as a family, the innocence of childhood, and the joy of celebrating everything together,” he stated. He continues this tradition, celebrating with his own family now, finding renewed joy in his son’s excitement.

For Shaw, Diwali carries a deeper message: “light will always find its way through darkness.” He believes the festival is a powerful reminder of hope, positivity, kindness, and letting go of negativity, values he urges everyone to carry into their daily lives. Shaw’s professional journey includes notable shows like ‘Kasamh Se’ and ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’.
