Mumbai, Maharashtra: Actress Kareena Kapoor Khan recently recounted the terrifying night her husband, Saif Ali Khan, was stabbed by an intruder, an incident that continues to haunt the couple.
Appearing on ‘Koffee With Karan 9’, Kareena shared emotional details, revealing the chaos that unfolded.
Saif Ali Khan was attacked in January 2022 by Mohd Shariful Islam Shehzad, who had broken into their Mumbai residence with intent to steal. Saif sustained stab wounds to his thoracic spine and other parts of his body during a violent confrontation. He was immediately rushed to Lilavati Hospital for urgent medical attention.
Kareena described her desperate attempt to get help. “I was screaming on the road. I was like, ‘Stop, stop.’ It was like a movie scene. I didn’t have the time to put on my pyjamas. I ran on the road,” she revealed, adding that she was in her night T-shirt and shorts, frantically trying to hail a rickshaw while Saif was bleeding.
The most heartbreaking moment, she recalled, was seeing Saif injured in the lift. Their son Taimur, witnessing the scene, innocently asked, “Abba, are you going to die?” Saif, despite his severe injuries, maintained hope for recovery, even light-heartedly remarking, “It was the worst knife in the history of knives. If it had been a slightly good knife, I would be dead. But it was such a bad knife that it broke.” The couple’s candid narration shed light on the traumatic experience and their resilience.
