Amit Shah Challenges Rahul Gandhi To Discuss SIR In Parliament After His Public Debate Dare To PM Modi

ECI-SIR Row: In a response to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s repeated challenge to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a public debate, Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday dared him to discuss the issue in the parliament.

While addressing supporters in Haryana, Shah accused Congress of disrupting the parliament’s proceedings. He further stated that while Gandhi walks out of the proceedings in parliament, he gathers a crowd on the street, further accusing him of spreading anarchy.

While speaking on the SIR row, Shah reiterated that the government is ready to discuss all the concerns raised by the opposition. While speaking during BJP’s ‘Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy’ foot march in Karnal, the home minister reminded that the voters have elected PM Modi for the third straight term. He asserted that Congress has faced back-to-back defeats in the elections after the 2024 Lok Sabha elections under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi.

“In a democracy, Parliament is the supreme forum for debate; yet, Rahul Gandhi, you do not allow Parliament to function. You refuse to engage in discussions on substantive issues, having instead turned the creation of a ruckus and the staging of walkouts into the very culture of the Congress party. You prevent Parliament from operating, choosing instead to gather crowds on the streets and spread anarchy, much like an anarchist,” Shah stated.

Rahul’s Challenge To PM Modi

Amid the ongoing row over the functioning of the Election Commission, Rahul Gandhi has dared PM Modi for a public debate over his allegations of involvement of foreign forces in the recent protests. While his challenge remained unaccepted, Gandhi repeated that he is ready for a public debate irrespective of the venue and moderator. However, the BJP has suggested him to debate the poll rigging allegations in the parliament.

The opposition has been protesting over the alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, demanding removal of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar and a detailed probe into the allegations.
