Jailer 2 Casting Update Surfaces: Hrithik Roshan Joins Rajinikanth Starrer After Shah Rukh Khan’s Exit

Jailer 2 Casting Update: Jailer 2, one of the most anticipated Indian films of 2026, has generated fresh excitement after some reports said that Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan has been brought in for a crucial cameo in the Rajinikanth-led action entertainer. This news is coming months after talk in the industry suggested that Shah Rukh Khan had decided to step away from the project because of scheduling conflicts.

As per multiple media reports dated June 11, Hrithik Roshan is expected to team up with director Nelson Dilipkumar’s blockbuster sequel in a special but still very meaningful role. Sources are saying his character may not be just a quick walk-in and could actually assist in pushing the storyline tied to Rajinikanth’s iconic character, Tiger Muthuvel Pandian.

Jailer 2 Casting Update Surfaces

The reported casting is being framed as a nostalgic reunion between Hrithik Roshan and Rajinikanth, almost 40 years after they both were on screen together in the 1986 film Bhagwan Dada. Hrithik back then appeared as a child artist and he played the foster son of Rajinikanth’s character

Speaking about his experience as a child actor, Hrithik had said, “He was so gentle and caring. Whenever I messed up a shot, Rajini sir used to take the blame. He would say, ‘Sorry, my fault,’ but it was actually my fault.”

He further recalled, “This happened every single time so that I, a child, would not get conscious.”

Reports add that Hrithik is likely to begin shooting his parts in Chennai sometime later this month, with the production team reportedly creating a fresh, distinctive look for him. Now, the makers haven’t officially confirmed anything yet but still the news is already buzzing, fans are reacting across social platforms.

Why Shah Rukh Khan Reportedly Walked Away?

Before Hrithik Roshan’s name came out, Shah Rukh Khan was being mentioned a lot as the first preference for the special appearance in Jailer 2. The idea of two of Indian cinema’s biggest legends Rajinikanth and Shah Rukh Khan sharing the screen had created a massive amount of hype.

However, reports indicated that Shah Rukh Khan chose to prioritize his upcoming action film King, which remains one of his most ambitious projects and also marks a significant milestone for his family. As a result, the cameo plans reportedly did not happen.

Reports have linked actors such as Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, Vijay Sethupathi, Mithun Chakraborty, Ramya Krishnan, Vidya Balan and S. J. Suryah to the project, making it one of the most ambitious ensemble films in recent years.
