NorthEast United FC will look to extend their unbeaten start to the Indian Super League 2026-27 season when they face Churchill Brothers FC Goa at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda, Goa, on November 5. Kick-off is scheduled for 5 pm IST.
NorthEast United have eight points from four matches after two wins and two draws. Their latest outing ended in a draw against Bengaluru FC at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, where Jithin MS scored the opener in the 15th minute before Bengaluru equalised late.
Churchill Brothers are ninth in the standings. They began their campaign with a 2-1 victory over Mumbai City FC before losing to East Bengal FC and Punjab FC.
NorthEast United head coach Juan Pedro Benali expects a competitive match against opponents who press intensely, transition quickly and pose a threat from set pieces.
“If we think it will be an easy game, we are mistaken,” Benali said, stressing the need to remain focused.
Churchill Brothers forward Sebastián Gutiérrez has scored three goals in as many appearances. Wayde Lekay and John Okoli are also among their attacking options.
For NorthEast United, Alaaeddine Ajaraie has contributed two goals and an assist in the opening four fixtures. Jithin has scored against both Mohun Bagan Super Giant and Bengaluru, while midfielder Antonio Moyano has registered a goal and an assist.
Benali said his team’s approach would remain the same away from home.
“We don’t differentiate between playing at home and away. Of course, we love playing at home in front of our fans, but when we are away, we do the same work. We fight, we run, we play and we try our best to get the points,” Benali explained.
Midfielder Macarton Louis Nickson also acknowledged the challenge of facing Churchill Brothers at home but said NorthEast United were targeting a win.
“They are not an easy team. They are playing on their home ground, and it won’t be easy for either them or us. We are focused on getting the three points,” Macarton said.
He also stressed the importance of maintaining consistency and building confidence.
