Did Alpha Makers COPY Dune Poster? Netizens Point Out Crazy Similarities

Yash Raj Films’ upcoming spy thriller Alpha is making headlines – just not the kind the team would want. After the teaser got a mixed reaction, with fans wondering where Sharvari is, the posters have come under scanner.  is the first female-led installment in the hugely successful YRF Spy Universe and has been in the making for quite some time. However, the latest poster released by the makers has sparked an unexpected debate online. Soon after the poster dropped, social media users began comparing it to the iconic posters of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune franchise. Many netizens pointed to similarities in the visual style, colour palette and overall aesthetic, with some even accusing the makers of lacking originality.

The newly released Alpha poster features  , Sharvari, Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor standing against a rugged, desert-like backdrop. The image is dominated by muted sepia tones and a gritty atmosphere, giving it a dramatic and larger-than-life feel. While the poster was intended to build excitement for the upcoming action thriller, many social media users quickly noticed what they believed were striking similarities to the promotional artwork of Dune.

The Hollywood sci-fi franchise, starring Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac and Zendaya, is known for its desert landscapes, earthy colour grading and ensemble character posters. Soon after the image surfaced online, reactions began pouring in.

One social media user wrote, “I thought it’s a Dune 3 poster.” Another commented, “Every masterpiece has it’s cheap copy.” Several users also questioned the originality of the design. One wrote, “Bring something original yaar – poster bhi Copied.” Another frustrated netizen said that it is unbelievable that the poster is copied in this AI era.

Directed by Shiv Rawail, Alpha is the seventh installment in the YRF Spy Universe and one of the studio’s most ambitious projects to date. The film stars Alia Bhatt in the lead role alongside Sharvari, Bobby Deol, and Anil Kapoor. The recently released teaser introduced audiences to Sita, played by Alia Bhatt. Presented as an origin story, the film follows a young woman who is trained to become a deadly assassin by her father, portrayed by Bobby Deol. Bollywood legends Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Amitabh Bachchan publicly praised the teaser and the first look of Alia Bhatt and Bobby Deol after its release.

Alpha is particularly significant because it is the first female-led film in the franchise. The YRF Spy Universe previously revolved around iconic agents such as Salman Khan’s Tiger, Hrithik Roshan’s Major Kabir Dhaliwal, and Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan. The screenplay has been co-written by Soumil Shukla, Shridhar Raghavan, Uday Chopra, and Ishita Moitra.
